We understand the ring detect problem. Some board manufacturers use a
full-wave rectifier before the ring detect; others save a fraction of a
cent by using half-wave. Our modem code needs to know which to assume for
each board. (We also need to know what country we're in.) As we learn of
new boards with problems, we fix them in the code.

We'll be posting Lucent Win Modem version 5.49 this week. Look for it

to follow once we verify that it's there).
