Actually, I'd be willing to bet that Lucent already has one of each of
these modems. The problem as I see it is not just the modems, but
rather a combination of modems and lines and telco configurations. For
example, of the modems you list below, The Rockwell HCF, the Cirrus
Logics and the USR Winmodems all work fine for us. I haven't heard any
complaints about any of the others you list either, but I'm not sure if
we have any users with those modems. I do know that we have users with
HCF, CL, and USR winmodems, though. Now, the problem is that even
though Lucent probably has one of each of these modems, they may work
fine on their lines, just like they work fine on ours. If they don't
work fine on yours then the only way Lucent can troubleshoot is from
your lines, meaning that you need to report problems to support, get
traces from these modems, etc.
