I have had VERY good luck with the ISA Lucent winmodems talking to a PM-3.
You can find them for ~$20 on pricewatch.com from a couple of vendors. We
just give them away to customers that have crap modems - the $20 loss is
cheaper than screwing around with init strings and upgrades for the garbage
they have. So far it has worked out quite well for us.
Make sure you give them the latest drivers for the modem - the ones that
ship from the bargain places are usually old. I just copy the latest
version on the install disk before I give it to the customer.
