Wow, a defender of the Motorola SM56. <g>

Getting what you pay for holds true with the Lucent LT Winmodem.
Lucent only makes the chipset, the modem components are purchased and
assembled by privately owned factories in Asia for the most part.
You will pay a bit more for a better quality LT modem. The hardest part is
making sure you aren't buying one of the lesser quality brands when shopping
around.
