If I've learned anything from reading this list, it's that Your Mileage
May Vary. 3.8 is great for some, while 3.8.2c2 is better for others. Try it,
you never know.

On the other hand, 3Com modems have consistantly been poor performers.
They are much too aggressive in their connect speed. I've found it necessary
to throttle their connect speeds back to something that's sane. Even then, I
get the occasional retrain. This is on the same line that other modems are
very happy with, at higher speeds.
