Is this in an eMachines system by any chance? I just had
a customer who reported similar problems, with what appears
to be the exact same modem. (His modem drivers were only
at "7.6006MS", though, as reported by ATI3.)
He downloaded drivers from the eMachine web site, and it's
now working fine for him. The driver file is vR764-9ki.zip,
and is available here:
http://www.e4me.com/updates/updates.html
It looks like it's at least slightly newer than the version
your customer has (7.64-9 vs 7.63-9), so you might want to
have them try it. Even if it's not in an eMachine, it's
still probably worth giving these drivers a try.
