(PMOD) SM56 AC-L

I know the SM56 has been discussed a bit lately, and so when we got one of
the new Gateway iMac clones in here with an SM56 AC-L, I went to
http://www.motorola.com/networking/products/softmodem.html to get the latest
drivers for it. I found drivers for the ISA and the PCI, but not the AC-L.
Init strings (including %B18) are doing zilch, commas after the number
aren't doing anything either. He says it will connect to another local
provider, but not our PM3's. Thought/suggestions (other than swapping the
modem, which is not an option here) are more than welcome.
