Second, I can assure you that if the modem just says LT Winmodem, it's
running a software revision older than 5.39 and should really be
upgraded. I've also found that with version 5.53, modems tend to try for
a speed one notch higher than it should be. For example, they connect at
49,333, but should really stick to 48,000 as this works much better at
least for us.
