As you see, this is a PCTel modem.

AT+MS=V34 should get the user connecting with V.34

When adding three commas, does it connect V.34 or 56K?

If 56K, then this modem supports V.90.

I just posted that PCTel modems do not signify that they support
V.90 in the V.8bis sequence. So we try K56Flex. Adding the three
commas makes the client miss the V.8bis answer tone and only see
the V.8 answer tone. V.8 is where we negotiate V.90 or V.34.

In the lastest modem code:
For PCTel modems only, we ignore the V.8bis negotiation and try V.90.

This may cause problems with very old versions of PCTel modems that only
support Flex, but based on our testing, these modems will fallback to V.34.
Please ensure that the timeout in DUN is set for 60sec at a minimum.
