I am attempting to get Esva-net's RADIUS to run on Solaris. System info:
[12] wiley:/etc/raddb > uname -a
SunOS wiley 5.5 Generic i86pc i386 i86pc
[13] wiley:/etc/raddb > /usr/sbin/radiusd.esva -v
/usr/sbin/radiusd.esva: RADIUS version 1.16 95/01/06
sun sys5
It compiled cleanly and appears to run fine. The system does use
shadow passwords. I made sure that shadow.h was getting included in
the compile.
Radiusd recognizes users that are listed individually in the users file,
with passwords specified in the users file. For users not listed
in the users file, the authentication logfile shows records like this:
Fri Mar 1 12:25:21 1996: Authenticate: from vangogh.wic.net - Invalid User: ockers
If I add a user "ockers" with a set password in the users file, the
authentication is fine. (I am using merit's radpwtst utility to test it
from another unix machine. Great utility, WEB!)
If I set the password for user "ockers" in the users file to "UNIX" the
authentication fails.
I am quite sure that there is a user "ockers" defined in the password files.
In summary, the authentication seems to be ignoring the presence of the
passwd file (and the shadow file). What can I do to debug this and/or
fix it?
Also I will be needing to apply the SCP patch since the owner of the
site wants users to use Puser for PPP, Suser for SLIP, etc. Evidently
he doesn't like "user.ppp" as a login. Anybody have any serious problems
with attempting to do this in the past? (I have the SCP patch but haven't
tried it yet - I want to get the standard authentication working first.)
