It's not that it needs to communicate to the PPP client. It could send mail to a defined e-mail account for each PPP type.

Because there doesn't seem to be anything in PPP for sending a message to
the operator. There's nothing Livingston can do about it.

I agree it's a much needed feature. I'll go farther -- it's a much needed
feature to be able to send alerts in general to dial-up PPP accounts.
Like for notifying everyone of an impending shutdown, for example.

It just ain't there, and Livingston can't change that.

BTW, due to how the function works internally, even if you're dialing in
you don't get a notice on the last day. "Zero days left" returns the same
as "no expiration".
