When does Portmaster initialize modems?

Hello,
I have three PM2e-30s and I have them set up with the proper
modem table. If I reset the port manually, it works great, sends out the
AT commands to the modem, and voila. But, sometimes the modems forget
what speed they are at. I have them locked at 115K but if they forget,
the portmaster cannot talk to them and I have upset users. Can I force
the PM to reset the port and send out the AT init string after each
session is complete? If not, has anyone written a watchdog routine to
keep and eye open for messed up modems and reset them?
