A user has a ppp account that is verified by the radiusd server. He
can log in from his pc, but has DNS errors and later gets kicked off
for no apparent reason. Now, what we do is go into the setup.cmd
(from winsock) and change his user name to say my login name. I can
get on, and have no dns problems. Now I change it to yet another account
(and another and another) and they are all able to resolve host names
from netscape and telnet. Now, I put his login back in. Everything stops
all of a sudden. Initially, one might think that his account is screwed
up, something mistyped, or *something*. Yet, his account is exactly
identitical to all of our other ones. What's even more puzzling is say
I make a dummy user (joe schmoe). I can log into that account, BUT when
I modify his login name to some other name ("his" being the original ppp
user who had problems), HE can't log in!!!! This is the most ridiculous
and mind boggling problem I have run into yet. Does anybody have a clue
how to fix this "bug"? It's as if his name is jinxed or something. I
can't explain it.....
Anybody have any light to shed on this problem? Note, that his account
is IDENTITICAL to all of the hundred or so that I tried and that some
non-living person I made up can log in too, but when I change his name
(full name to his real name), it <insert bad sayings here> @#!$@!^&@!#!@
