You've burned quite a lot of your time on this. I would either:
1) telnet to the box under script to capture the output from a bunch of
show location xx commands and shove them into expect scripts, probably
quicker to hand edit the output than to awk or perl it into shape, although
a little pre-processing wouldn't hurt.

2) if expect isn't an option, dump the capture file to a printer and
start hand typing.

Getting the read/write working would be nice...if not mission critical...
may even be fun to get working...
