Bingo. I checked this after logging out and saw hundreds of packet
errors. I have not had a bad connection in a month and completely
forgot about how my modem acts when it gets an error.

I was pinging the portmaster, I knew better than to try anything other
than the portmaster. Seems the portmaster was doing just fine.
Another user however is using a Macintosh and an internal GlobalVillage
modem. At this point I suspect his modem as being defective.
Netscape and MacWeb both die after about 12 links.
