Rob,

Can only give you some insight as to what we have done with ISDN. We are only
using it (ISDN) currently to connect customers to our database and not the
internet....yet.

1) we are using the Gandalf ISDN products (RLAN and BRI cards in their
expandable X11 product in our office, and their 5200 seri. bridge on the
customer side). This is workeing without a hitch. The Gandalf will do up to an
8:1 compression....Eats up a bit of your band width, but is like being on the
network.
We have had no problems with the Gandalf ISDN product, but have heard of some
people who are not real happy with it....not sure why. I would say it is a good
ISDN->Ethernet solution.

2) we use a Cisco seri. 1000 ISDN router to our internet provider. At first it
worked well....BUT it seams to lock up every 48Hrs or so (we have to power down
then up). Our ISP is looking into this and here is what they think the problem
is: 'The second "B" chan. keeps trying to dial and make a connection, even
though it IS connected. (Good plan, fill up the log files with errors ;-) )
This seams to "HANG" the Cisco so there is no BRI connection (even though the
lights say they are connected).' This is kind of a pain when the phone rings at
2AM and you have to travel 30Min to pull a power plug!

Rob, I now this won't tell you which products to use, But it may give you some
insite into what we have encountered.

Good luck,

Gary
