Because NCSA Mosaic v2.x, with x < 6, is broken, almost everywhere.
The tag you used to center <CENTER> weren't also supported on Mosaic,
especially with v 2.1 (Netscape didn't even exist when Mosaic was 2.1,
did it ?)
