Jeff, in Nynex land of Maine, Channelized T1 and PRI are both more
expensive than individual lines. Channelized T1 is about $75 per line, and
PRI is about $41 per line where I live. POTS business lines are about $38.
PRI, for a small premium will emliminte LOTS of labor and wiring for me,
involved in running lots or pairs from our telephone demarc to the
punchdown blocks where our modems are, and running rj-11's from the block
to the modems, and all the work needed to wire up the modems and their
powerpacks, and the serial cables, and the custom woodwork and electrical
work myself and others have done to hold 100 modems and electrical
outlets. You get the idea.

The hardware cost comparison between the pm3 and a pm2e+modems has already
been beaten to death.

On the other hand, Nynex is not very efficient at anything thats not POTS.
Their loss, my gain.

When BRI becomes affordable in my area, customers might even be able to
use ISDN for what it's meant for.
