Not sure - there is no number limit, but there is a string length limit.
so more 7 digit numbers fit than 10 digit, etc. It was designed to meet
a requirement for OR's which only have 2 B channels, it just happens to
be in the PM code too since they share a code tree.
I think the string limit is 64 characters - try it, enter a long string and
see where it truncates.
