I was re"install"ing my BitSurfer Pro (which I still can't get a stable 2B
connection on even with ROM H) on my old 486 and couldn't seem to connect to
the Livingston 5BRI card. I debugged it for a while and realized that my 486
was rejecting PAP. Seems when I upgraded the kernel to 2.0 the RedHat
package management system had replaced my /etc/ppp/pap-secrets. Bugger.

All hail the -d argument to pppd.
