HDLC/PPP connection

I'm running a small ISP for about 6 months in a Frame Relay connection.
Now my upstream provider want to move my circuit to a HDLC/PPP connection.
As I saw in the handbook, PM2ER seems to supports that. Could get a better
performance with that change?
