Well they are correct, in that the 5ESS will only accept VOICE or DATA
calls in a hunting configuration on a given number. So what you need to
do is get them to establish two circular hunt groups. For simplicity
let's say you have two BRI's (listed below) and want both a VOICE and
DATA hunt-group. Use the first number for data (the choice of data or
voice first doesn't matter), and the second number for voice.
BRI #1
555-0001 [Start of DATA Circular Hunt]
555-0002 [Start of VOICE Circular Hunt]
BRI #2
555-0003
555-0004 [Hunts back to 555-0001 as this is a circular hunt]
I have this exact arrangement with a bunch of BRI's here in BellAtl land
on a 5ESS switch. It's took a lot of beating on the switch programmers
to get it right, but it now works.
Also to recap part of a previous message you MUST make sure that the
switch is programmer for 1 CSV/CSD per B channel, as the default is 2!
If this is not set correctly, when the second incoming call arrives
the Portmaster will reject the incoming call since it will not match the
SPID that is programmed on that port. This appears to be a problem that
is unique to Livingston, as this really threw me when I replaced some
Ascend P50's with the 5BRI. The Ascend's function correctly on a standard
BRI (set the 2 CSV/CSD like it really should be), but the Livingston
needs this change to work. Other than this gotcha the 5BRI works
great, and I have very little trouble with them...
