Failed Radius - tcp\telnet unknown service

Hello,
I went to install radius on my BSDI 2.1 box and the system crashed 1
min. into the install (I know that the IDE interface is the cause)

When I rebooted, I couldn't telnet into my system anymore, I check
/etc/services and the contents of this was saved as services.orig in the
services file was a copy of /etc/ppp.sys ??????

Now I copied /etc/services.orig to /etc/services and rebooted to no avail.

I've looked (and still am looking) through BSDI mailing list archives, again
to no avail.

Any one have any ideas?
