Here's my latest courier results. They are so funny I could use them
for a comedy routine, except its really starting to piss me off.
GTE claims with the service I am paying for I should get clear
throughput from 300 to 3200 Hz. GTE claims that they have a noise
level of '4.9' (4.9 what?). No talk about loss, or signal strength. I
believe their testing hardware is wearing some rose colored glasses,
but its all BS if you can't get signal strength. I can now no longer
stay connected from my Courier to my Cardinals for more than a few
minutes at best, and even then I get ARQ light flashing a bit.
Also, GTE claims I am running "high speed data" and that is the
problem. I run a measly 3200 baud peak on these lines. If I remember
right, 3200 symbol rate with decent flat signal level in what GTE calls
their "voice grade area" will reward you with 28.8k bidirectional.
There will be another message right after this explaining the next
situation. Its something that all of us need to watch out for. I knew
it was a matter of time before GTE started doing it...
