If I'm lucky with my copper, I'm lucky at four widely dispersed sites,
three of them NYNEX (and one GTE).
But I hardly said NYNEX was perfect; I just feel criticisms carry more
weight if what a company/person/spouse/pet/whatever does right is also
acknowledged. I realize this is considered a bit quaint these days.
As for ISDN, I can't even get anything except virtual ISDN here, and
last I heard NYNEX has no plans ever to offer real ISDN here. And I
have yet to get either of my two BRI's to work at all. However, since
I can barely spell ISDN myself, I'm not ready to blame NYNEX (yet).
So far, though, I am baffled and stymied. NYNEX says I have 5ESS/NI-1
service, but they give me a SPID different from what the Livingston
website FAQ says I should have. NYNEX says its the phone number,
complete with area code, with a TID of 00. The Livingston website FAQ
says the SPID should be the 01+<7-digit local number>+TID. I can't
get either format, or any of a multitude of variations, to work. I
just get a nice pretty green LED staring at me and a PM that says
NO-SERVICE and a bunch of
S20: Register Failed - Telco Not Responding
S20: Received Disconnect Ack Temporary Failure
S21: Register Failed - Telco Not Responding
S21: Received Disconnect Ack Temporary Failure
over and over.
