DirecPC users

Hi there. I'm suprised this isn't a FAQ, but I haven't seen anyone talking
about it. I've got a customer using the DirecPC satellite-delivered internet
connection. He dials into our ISP, his outgoing packets are sent to the
DirecPC site (in Maryland, I think), and his incoming packets are delivered to
him via satellite. This scheme apparently works pretty well, except that our
PM2e idle timers don't seem to see his traffic.

If I put a packet sniffer on the network, I see his outgoing packets go
through the PM2e and out our gateway, but the PM never resets his idle timer
(apparently because no data is ever sent *out* the port). If I ping his PPP
connection, that immediately resets the idle timer, but otherwise he gets
dumped by the timer after a few minutes.

I've had him try dialing in to 3 different PM's (1 PM2eR and 2 PM2e's, running
ComOS versions 3.3.1c1, 3.1.4, and 3.3.1) and they all exhibit the same
behavior. We haven't upgraded to a version of RADIUS that supports per-user
idle timeouts yet. (Or was that a ComOS upgrade which enabled that?)

Anyone have any ideas? I'd be suprised if we were the first ones to run into
this problem. Thanks,

Mark
