hayes accura 288 - PM OR-U ??????

I am trying to set up a portmaster or-u to dial in continuously to
another portmaster using a hayes accura 288 modem. I have the modem
dialing just fine and making the connection. the problem is that if
the line is reset or fails for any reason, the modem resets and goes
back on hook, but the portmaster doesn't recognize that the
connection has gone down. It continues to show the connection as
ESTABLISHED, and therefore doesn't redial to bring the connection
back up. I have tried just about every modem string imagineable, and
am currently using.

any help would be appreciated.
