You're talking about the init string, right?

What connection type are you setting on this dial-out connection?
Continuous? On_demand? Manual? (Those are the three choices) You should
be using a continuous type connection when you set this up, so that if the
connection drops, it always redials automatically.

If you are already using continuous, then what I suggest is that for
troubleshooting, you first set it as a manual, then manually reset the port
and dial it several times in a row to see if it works properly. Then, try
it as an ondemand--reset the port or set an idle timer and let it time out,
then when the connection is dropped, send some packets to the destination
specified in your outbound location entry, and see if the interface comes up
and dials. You can monitor this via telnet or the console by doing a 'set
console' command, and then by doing a set debug 0x51 to monitor PPP stuff.
If it gets to the PPP stages, then you're fine with your dialing.
