PM OR-U and hayes modem

I am trying to set up a dedicated 28.8 connection using a OR-U to
dial a hayes accura modem. I have a script written that dials fine
and makes the connection. The problem is that if the connection goes
down for any reason the Livingston router continues to think it has
an established connection, and doesn't redial. I suspect it is
something to do with the modem init string, but am not sure.

If anyone has any ideas or experience with this issue, help would be
appreciated.
