Once upon a time Gordon Soukoreff shaped the electrons to say...
>W1 to his Cisco. He was not happy because he wanted to assign
>a subnetted C class with a subnet mask of ( I thing ) 225.255.255.224.
>I guess he wanted to squeeze as many subnets as possible out of the
>C class.
>
>Locally we are routing a C class with mask 255.255.255.0.
>( I believe this is considered part of IPv5 specs ).

IPv5 doesn't exist. IPv4 is current, next is IPv6. IPv5 and IPv7 were
competing proposals for IPng - IPv6 won.

>The question is it possible to do this now ?

Sure. You should be able to reconfigure the W1 port to do this.
