Certainly you can attach an ISDN modem/TA to any of the async ports on the
PortMaster for your Internet feed. You would probably want to set the port
to network/hardwired as long as ISDN tariffs in your area aren't out of
control for a dedicated ISDN connection. Realize that these async ports top
out (theoretically) at 115.2 Kbps, so depending on what type of Internet
services you are offering, this link may be slow if you are serving 29
concurrent connections on the other PM-2E-30 ports. If you are just offering
shell/ascii or e-mail accounts this may be fine. Users on this list seem to
use the Motorola Bitsurfr Pro, Adtran ISDN TA's, 3Com Impact, or USR Imodems
for their ISDN TA needs. All async ports on the PM-2E can handle dial-up
routed connections so there is no need for any additional router hardware in
this setup.

Another option is to use a separate Livingston Synchronous Office Router on
the same ethernet as the PM-2E. You can attach an external ISDN TA to the
sync port of the router for your ISDN Internet feed. If your bandwidth needs
increase, you can then upgrade your feed to fractional/full T1 using the
same Office Router port.

Depending on your plans for growth or adding more services at that POP, you
may want to look into the 5-BRI card for the PM-2E or the PM-2E-10I. Using
MP, you can group ISDN B channels for higher speed Internet feeds from 128K
to 640K (5 BRIs). Let me know if you want more info on these products.

hope this helps,
