Well, how about this question:

If I bring up an ISDN connection, and send nothing but DNS zone serial
queries at the rate of 2/hour, how much load am I placing on the telco
infrastructure?

I know if I was using an analog modem the phone company would be sending
at least a carrier signal 24/7.
