routing opinions anyone?

Hello all,

I've got a little question. We've got several PM2E's and are now adding
more lines. We would now like to move the dial-up IP's (assigned
addresses) to a subnet other than the local one (read: a different
subnet than the PM's are actually on). I'd like a little advice on the
best way to do this...

So far we've considered putting the portmasters on the new subnet, with
the assigned address also local to that new subnet. Then placing an
internal gateway within the network to route packets between the two
subnets (the old one and new one). However, it seems to me that this
would mean that the dial-up IP's would all be totally screwed if that
machine ever croaked. This probably isn't a good thing. Anyway, so far
we're using static routes and such to kluge around this, but if anybody
can suggest a neater solution I'd love to hear it. Thanks!

cc all mail to jeff@apex.net as I'm a digest kinda guy...
