They are responsive, but nonetheless, 3 of the 6 ascend pipeline routers
we have installed did not work out of the box. (they needed an software
upgrade, and one was DOA). Another one, the password was lost, and it had
to send it in for swap!

The only reasons for using them are:
1) They have nice compression in them for leased lines.
2) We used them before leased-line office routers from livingston were commonplace.

It would be neat if livingston could have some sort of compression for
leased lines. compression over frame relay would be even nicer! (Is that
possible?)
