Disconnects are a CONSTANTLY hard problem to trace. One reason is that
disconnects can happen in many places.

I have worked with customers with most, if not all of the above modems on
disconnect problems.

Understand that some portion of the lost-carrier termination is actually
a normal termination. Some PPP dialers don't bother to send a PPP
termination packet, they just drop the phone line.

I would like to think ISDN is more reliable. I've had cases with
customers where the isdn lines go in and out of service, when they
shouldn't. I'd be more concerned about the ISDN lost-carriers than I
would the POTS lost carriers. ISDN lines usually have 'normal clearing',
but I'm not sure if that is reported in the accounting information.
