All modems that I know of (for YEARS) have allowed you to lock the speed.
They just don't document HOW! Simply connect to the modem at your desired
speed (say 115,200) and then write the EEPROM: AT&W
That's it!

You can use the attach feature of the PM after the modem is connected and
do it there. No problem and it works forever (or until your modem goes
screwy if you have a brand that tends to do such things).
