This is incorrect. In my dealings only high end modems allowed you to lock
dte speed. Still others documented how to do it, but the at&w would not
save the register. For Hayes, its S87.
Some Hayes and Most UDS modems allowed you to lock DTE speed. THis is a
big problem for sportsters. I have seen people complain about NOT being
able to LOCK the dte speed.
What I did is write a script to attach to each modem, perform an AT
command, look for OK, then at&w. This would SAVE the DTE speed to the last
successful DTE connection speed in MOST modems, like the sportster.
