Issue an *ifconfig* from the command line of the portmaster.
You should see the following.

- ether0: flags=40106<IP_UP,IPX_DOWN,BROADCAST,PRIVATE,OSPF>

Also *show ether0* does the " cost,hello and dead-timers match the settings
on gated.

The command to look at OSPF hello packet is as follows.

- set console
- set debug ospf-m on|off

If your asking, does the pm3 default to 1 if MD5 is being used?
The answer is, No. If MD5 is disabled the ID is not used.
