What an adventure. We've been using supra's since the first v.34 code, way
back when rom revs were in the 1.0xx's. Several things we've done.
1 - They are EXTREMELY susceptable to heat. Even stacking them two high
causes heat problems. We've taken that "wall mount" railing, alluminum
stuff, and inserted two pieces in between every two modems. We've also
gotten LARGE fans, and cooled the stack. Now, with them 6 high and 10 wide,
the core of the stack stays about 95'. W/o these steps the modems stop
functioning at about 115', and peg my meter at 150'. See below for my CRUDE
ascii drawing.

(BIG Fan!) and so on...
2 - Keep up with the flash code revs. Supra is 'pretty good' at fixing
problems in each new code revision. Current ROM code is -25, available from
beta.supra.com. (Course every once in a while they BREAK something too..)
3 - Use a basic INIT string. I've experimented with EVERY extra option
under the sun. Here's the basic string we use, and the explaination:
at &f2 &d3 m0 l0 s0=1 s194=10 &w0 &w1
&f2 - reset to factory default w/hardware handshake
&d3 - soft reset modem with DTR toggle (As opposed to &d2- hang up modem)
m0 - speaker off
l0 - volume off
s0=1- Answer on the first ring
s194=10 - Give addition info on the display. S/N ratio & line quality.
forget the retrain options, (%e1 %g1) and the MNP10 stuff, since it causes
more problems than it does good.
Hope some of this helps!
