Actually, I had a huge number of problems getting all the modems on my
MP-16 bricks to work using flat, untwisted ribbon cable. Modems not answering
being the prime problem. Now and then, one would go to lunch.

When I re-arranged all the racks, I installed CAT-5 cable for the serial
lines and (I think) CAT-3 for the phone lines.

Before I did the re-wiring, I was telling people to stay away from the
MP-16's as if they were the plague. Now I say "Buy 'Em!"

Hmmm... How can you avoid crosstalk if all the wire in your bundles is
straight? Seems to me you need twist.
