Sorry reposting that question, but I think there is a light in the end
of the tunnel !
My situation: I have 4 telephonic wires connecting two places, not far
from each other. The problem
is that there is no DIALTONE in that lines, I mean, they do no go through
the TELCO. I've done lots
of tests in the past three days. If I put a PC with a modem in each end of
the wire and command ATO in
the first and ATA in the second, I got them connected and I can transfer
files, etc, at 33600! I'm
trying to figure out (I don't know if it's possible), if I can run TCP/IP
through that connection.
One test I've done is: I've put trumpet winsock in the PC, configure it to a
normal PPP session
(where the PM would assign the IP). I've put a modem in a PM, issued the
command ATTACH S# .
Now I can issue an ATO. The modems handshake, I got a ESTABLISHED status in
the PM, but Trumpet
could not negotiate the IP. I noticed that when I issue a show S#, the port
changes to DEVICE (because
I've telneted it, obviously!). In the console of the PM starts to appear
lots of 'garbage' (characters
that come from the PPP negotiation).
Anyone has a tip or idea how can I solve that ? Or I must forgot it and
get a couple of sync modems
to do the job ?
Thanks a lot !

Helio.
