I believe he is refering to Amplitude Modulated L-Carrier, a popular Frequency
Division Multiplex scheme widely used in the PSTN voice network. L-Carrier is
usally sent over microwave or coax cable systems. L-Carrier's beauty lies in
its extremely low per-trunk cost and simplicity. Source information for the
L-Carrier multiplex scheme can be found here, but L-Carrier will likely be
inadequate for your use in a high speed data environment. It may prove useful
if your requirement is to get 600 analog dialup lines from Telco, however.
Carriers are a finicky lot, particularly when it comes to transmission system
specs, and/or design/system information. You've really got to be able to "talk
the talk" and "walk the walk" to get specific information out of their
organizations. And then they hire you :)
