That's probably a good place to look but also check for any errors while
the lines are up and running. You should also note that the telco's
usually "stress test" the line from some common point which means that
they don't test the whole line as it normally runs unless they're out at
your site with a test set. More than once we've had to tell them "don't
look to the ends, look where you are!" ]
You can also stress the line yourself a bit using ping with various
patterns. The "1and7" pattern (ping -p 01 hostname.com) will tend to show
wiring and connection problems, others will show other types of
failures. I have a shell script which runs through a number of patters
with long pings and which usually will show up a problem if there's one
there.
