I had the same problem with Zoltrix modems trying to connect. The answer
from livingston tech support was "we are able to handle about 90% of the
modesm. it's those 10% that are kiling us"

I replaced the modem and boom! No more problems.

I'm also having good success with crappy ole winmodems connecting at 28.8.

I'm running trunk side CT-1, ESF, B8ZS enabled and wink start. b16 OS.
