Actually I had the SAME problem with my new thinkpad laptop and the
DataFire ISDN pc card for it. Since it was a new computer, and I had
already installed the ethernet card in it, I sort of by-passed using
Win95's 'internet setup wizard' for a dial up connection and manually
added it via DUN its self. Long story short, I had DUN working fine, but
it would take nearly 45 seconds to login (in v.34 more and ISDN). Simply
going to the 'internet setup wizard' in Win95, and telling it I had a
modem attached did the trick for me (connections take a couple of seconds
at isdn, and about 15 with v.34) since it installed a couple more drivers
off the Win95 cd.

I don't know if both your customers would fall into this category since
you stated that it 'broke' when switching to the new hardware, but you
didn't say if you had your customers make 'new connection profiles' for
this new hardware (maybe a new #, POP, etc).

Since I whent through this LASTNIGHT myself with my new laptop from home-
it might give you something to try.
