THAT is a square sine wave and it is what cheaper UPS's generate. The
effects are that the higher sustained height of the wave can over time
heat up and damage older power supplies that do NOT like to see such nasty
waves. Newer UPS's generate a "stepped" sine wave. Lemme try to draw:

It more closely resembles a TRUE sinewave and is less MEAN to power
supplies. But it "costs" more to do this.
