You know, Bob...I have to agree. I've never seen the "square sine wave"
term before, but I guess it's similar to a "triagular circle" or "dry
water." The term I've seen in literature from UPS vendors is "modified sine
wave."

Considering that the waveform is roughly square as generated, then filtered
and whatnot to create this wannabe sinewave, that it should be called a
"modified square wave."

There's an old saying about half-truths, but I can't remember what it is...
