We are doing it with hardware. We have been beta testing a new modem which
uses two POTS (standard voice-grade) phone lines and will send data
Bi-Directional at 57.6 to 67.2 K-bits/sec reliably (and it is FAST). The
modem does not rely on a Portmaster / Linux combination to achieve this
feat. If there is interest in this drop me an e-mail and I can give you
more info on the modems and where they can be obtained.

One other thing - don't mention this to the telcos <wink> as they are NOT
going to like this!
