We ran into that with Zoltriz and MultiTech MT2834MR modems a while
back. The Zoltrices get confused by the v.32terbo handshake sequence.
This "terbo" mode is a rare AT&T 19200 protocol. Disabling it in the
receiving modem allowed the Zoltrices to connect.
Best advice is to tell your customers, "Never buy any modem whose name
begins with a 'Z'"
