I have to admit, it's been an experience but so far, I've pretty much
avoided having to ask any questions (best way to learn imho)...
I'm now at the stage where the thing's up & running, almost - still a couple
of headaches to take care of with the accounting (Emerald) but I can log in,
either as a Radius user or through Radius authenticating against the old NT
server (Emerald's Radius has this feature to assist with migration).
There's only one place now where I'm stuck...
Previously, using NT RAS, the users are set to 'automatic everything' - when
they log in they're handed an IP address, mask, gateway and a couple of DNS
servers.
On the Portmaster however, the only thing it's handing the user is the IP
address everything else has to be configured at the client end (DNS etc). I
don't relish the thought of having to talk several thousand users through
changing their settings, how can I make the Portmaster or Radius hand the
client a gateway and DNS entries?
One last puzzlement...
The Portmaster has an IP pool of 30 addresses. I log in and it gives me the
first address from the pool. I log off. I log in again and get the 2nd
address from the pool - why? The first address should be available?
Many tia
